Valeria Gorbunova
MEZZO-SOPRANO
A promising young Russian mezzo-soprano, Valeria Gorbunova is praised for her warm, velvety timbre and wide range. In 2025 she won Third Prize at the Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition, following her Grand Prix at the Moscow International “Romanciade” Competition in 2023. She is currently a member of the ensemble at the Nizhny Novgorod Pushkin Opera and Ballet Theatre, while continuing her studies at the Moscow State Conservatory.
Recent and upcoming performances there include Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice, Angelina in La Cenerentola, Carmen in Carmen, and the Countess in Pikovaya dama. Further engagements bring her house and role debut as Hermia in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Wexford Festival Opera, and Marchesa Melibea / Maddalena in Rossini’s Il viaggio a Reims at the Rossini Opera Festival.
