Armenian baritone David Vardan’s recent and upcoming engagements include Amonasro in Verdi’s Aida at Opéra Grand Avignon, Silvio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci at Aalto-Musiktheater Essen, Giorgio Germont in La traviata at Theater Kiel, and Belcore in L’elisir d’amore at the Pafos Aphrodite Festival.

Among his previous engagements are Baron Douphol in La traviata at Opéra de Rennes and Angers Nantes Opéra, as well as Giorgio Germont in La traviata and Escamillo in Carmen at the Estonian National Opera. In his native Armenia, he has appeared as Belcore in L’elisir d’amore and Don Alvaro in Il viaggio a Reims at the Armenian National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet.

At Staatsoper Hannover, Vardan appeared as Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin, Marullo in Rigoletto, Fiorello and an Officer in Il barbiere di Siviglia, and Melot in Tristan und Isolde.

His concert appearances include a gala at the Bolshoi Theatre, the Opera for Peace Gala at the Eiffel Tower alongside Sumi Jo and Étienne Dupuis, and performances in Estonia and Lithuania, including a concert at the Kaunas State Philharmonic under Constantin Orbelian.

Vardan has participated in masterclasses with some of the most distinguished artists of the international opera world, including Renée Fleming, Ailyn Pérez, Brian Jagde, Neil Shicoff and Brigitte Fassbaender.

Vardan is a prizewinner of numerous international competitions, including the Aram Khachaturian International Competition, the Klaudia Taev Competition, the Ottavio Ziino International Lyric Competition and the Eva Marton International Singing Competition.

He studied at the Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree.
