Armenian baritone Aksel Daveyan is establishing himself as one of the most promising baritones of his generation on the international operatic stage, admired for his warm timbre, vocal brilliance, and charismatic connection with audiences.

His recent and upcoming highlights include Marcello in La bohème at the Glyndebourne Festival, Albert in Werther at Opernhaus Zürich, Figaro in Il barbiere di Siviglia at Theater Bonn and Staatstheater Oldenburg, and Prinz Yamadori in Madama Butterfly at the Osterfestspiele Baden-Baden, as well as in concert at the Philharmonie Berlin with the Berliner Philharmoniker under Maestro Kirill Petrenko. His repertoire further includes Giorgio Germont in La traviata, Ottokar in Der Freischütz, and the Forester in The Cunning Little Vixen at Staatstheater Oldenburg.

Daveyan returns to Opernhaus Zürich as Sonora in La fanciulla del West and makes his house and role debut as Silvio in Pagliacci at the Aalto-Theater Essen. Further highlights include a house debut as Zurga in Les pêcheurs de perles at Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera.

Looking ahead, he returns to the Glyndebourne Festival and makes his house debuts at Teatro alla Scala, Milan, and at Opéra Royal de Wallonie-Liège.

At Opernhaus Zürich, Daveyan has appeared as Il Maestro in Donizetti’s Viva la mamma, Morales in Carmen, Dumas in Andrea Chénier, the Bass Soloist in Stravinsky’s Les Noces, Sciarrone in Tosca, a Page in Roberto Devereux, and a Consul in Eliogabalo.

Equally active on the concert stage, he has performed Mansurian’s Requiem at the National Chamber Music Hall in Yerevan, Haladjian’s Missa de Lumine at the Thomaskirche Frankfurt, Fauré’s Requiem and Seven Prayers at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall, and Mansurian’s Hymnus Navapet at the Mendel Festival in Brno.

He looks ahead to a return with the Brno Philharmonic for a Mansurian programme, followed by a performance of Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana at the Špilberk International Music Festival in Brno’s Špilberk Castle Courtyard, one of the highlights of the city’s summer season. He will also give a Polish song recital at Teatr Wielki – Opera Narodowa, appear in Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with the Vaasa City Orchestra in Finland, and feature in a New Year’s gala concert at the Royal Polish Opera.

Daveyan is a prizewinner of numerous international competitions, including First Prize at the Elena Obraztsova Competition in St Petersburg, Second Prize at the Queen Sonja Competition, and Third Prize at the International Stanisław Moniuszko Vocal Competition in Warsaw, where he also received the Audience Prize, the Polish Song Interpreter Prize, and the Polish Royal Opera Prize. He is also a First Prize winner of the Pan-Armenian “Gohar Gasparyan” Competition.
